A few weekends ago we visited Hardwick Hall, I had been before when I was young but hadn’t been back in ages! I have found as a mum that you can quickly run out of ideas of what to do with the kiddos that is not too expensive, child friendly and not to far away. I can’t really tell you anything about the beautiful Hall as we never planned to pay to go inside as the girls and I would have found it a bit boring. So instead we just paid £3 for the parking and went into the courtyard for a picnic which you can either take with you or buy from the restaurant.
Over the summer holidays Hardwick Hall were putting on activities in the courtyard for children which were all free! When we went they had put out lots of sports day themed games like egg and spoon, sack race and hula hoop which Arabella enjoyed. I think they do different activities at the hall all year round for different aged children, our day was fun because the weather was so good, I think it would have been a different story if it had rained! After our picnic, we explored a bit and walked the woodland trail which has tree swings and balancing beams for the kids to play on making the walking more fun and interactive! If you are stuck for something to do on a weekend I would definatly recommend a visit because providing the weather is nice its a really cheap day out providing you are not fussed about seeing the house and gardens. There are lots of different walks you can do too and the scenery and views are amazing!
